卜茲認為悟於古法後才能自立我法，臨摹不應以形式為尚，主張書法藝術要與古人「貌離神合」。也就是書法的有形樣貌要離古人越來越遠，以樹立自己的當代獨特風格，但在精神上卻是要與歷代傑出書家深深扣合不離。故卜茲臨此碑帖時，乃用既相似卻又不相同的書寫趣味來傳達米芾書法筆性健挺、用筆使轉饒富變化、節奏流暢等特色，由此可見其思想的奧妙與強烈的實踐性格。
