閆占城生於延安，2008年畢業於西安美術學院油畫系，現工作、生活於北京。閰占城的創作根植於潛意識的描繪，而其中有對家鄉的記憶、對文學的熱愛和對顏色的直覺。過往的經歷無聲地融入了他的畫面，形成了他獨特的繪畫語言。他作品中的事件並沒有被給出標準答案，或許也沒有標準答案，而是希望觀眾基於自身經驗與畫面展開交流。
